Calendar

Federal Reserve FOMC

Purpose

Meeting dates, policy statements and minutes from the Federal Reserve. [10]

Practical research notes

Editorial workflow suggestions — not product-tested. Official-page retrieval is not a test of data downloads, inference or investment performance.

Suitable task

Build a primary-source record of monetary-policy communication. The official calendar links policy statements and minutes, and describes eight regularly scheduled meetings per year plus other meetings as needed.[10]

Inputs to prepare

Choose the meeting year and date, the document type and your information cutoff. The official page distinguishes statements from minutes; regular-meeting minutes are released three weeks after the policy decision.[10]

Expected research outputs

The calendar provides links to statements and minutes.[10] Suggested research output: a dated document log separating the meeting, decision and publication dates, with short attributed excerpts rather than a rate forecast.

Suggested steps — not executed here

  1. Open the official calendar, choose a year and locate the meeting. Confirm the date on the official page instead of copying a third-party calendar.
  2. Open the statement if it is available, retain its URL and publication date, and summarize the decision separately from your interpretation.
  3. Return for the corresponding minutes when published. For historical research, exclude minutes that were not yet available at your chosen information cutoff.
  4. Compare the statement and minutes with the previous meeting, preserve short attributed excerpts, and recheck future dates before setting your own reminders. No reminder service was tested.

Access, cost and license boundaries

The official calendar was retrieved without a login or payment. This is an observation about public-page access, not a promise about third-party terminals, alerts or document-reuse permissions. No paid subscription or premium feed was assessed.

Limitations and unchecked conditions

The source says meeting dates are tentative until confirmed at the preceding meeting.[10] Editorial caution: minutes are not a same-day transcript and a scheduled meeting does not imply a particular rate decision. Linked documents were not individually audited.

Choose another research route when…

  • FRED: Use economic-series research to study the data context around a meeting, not as a substitute for the original policy wording.[22]
  • World Bank Data: Use country development indicators for longer-run cross-country context; this does not replace meeting-specific communication.[23]
